July 2024 · 12 minute read

There’s no end to the amazing sales on the PlayStation Store, routinely giving PS5 players great discounts. However, the new Critics’ Choice PS Store sale is arguably the best yet, with over 300 critically acclaimed games having their prices slashed. That’s undeniably a lot of games to sift through, so here are six games you should buy right away.

New PS5 games are always on the way, from killer PS5 exclusives to stellar multiplatforms, so the list of best PS5 games out there is constantly growing. It’s certainly hard to keep up with, especially with game prices having increased over recent years – most notably including Sony’s first-party titles. Nevertheless, this PS5 sale is the perfect way to catch up on some of the best games of recent times without breaking the bank.

Beginning on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, before wrapping up on Wednesday, February 14, you can save up to 90% on mountains of top-rated games available on the PS5 and PS4. This includes everything from the best RPG games to the best FPS games, racing games, and everything in between.

Our first recommendation is the Batman: Arkham Collection which has seen a mouth-watering 90% discount all the way from $59.99/£49.99 down to just $5.99/£6.49. This collection includes the incredible Batman: Arkham trilogy (Asylum, City, and Knight), giving you three great games to play through before sinking your teeth into the new Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which is set in the same universe despite the big departure for developer Rocksteady.

You can also pick up the 2018 Game of the Year runner-up Red Dead Redemption 2 for $19.97/£18.14, down from $59.99/54.99. As a prequel to the first game, you don’t necessarily have to pick up its predecessor if you don’t want to. Nevertheless, it’s an unforgettable journey, packed full of cowboy shootouts, shenanigans, and exceptionally intense and emotional scenes.

It Takes Two, one of the best co-op games ever, is also available at an irresistible discount. Now $11.99/£10.49 down from $39.99/£34.99, a whopping 70% off, you and a friend can dive into the meticulously crafted co-op levels as you puzzle and parkour your way to the finish line. While the story isn’t the focus, it’s surprisingly touching at times.

If you’re looking for an indie gem that will leave you breathless, look no further than Outer Wilds. Not to be confused with Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds (which is also on sale), Outer Wilds sees you solving the mystery of a solar system trapped in an endless time loop – though we refuse to spoil anything. Available at a 40% discount, you can pick Outer Wilds up for just $14.99/£11.99.

Final Fantasy fans are also eating well in the Critic’s Choice PS Store sale. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is 50%, available for $14.99/£14.99, while its equally excellent Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade expansion and PS5 update is 62%, clocking in at $15.19/£15.19. If the many Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth trailers piqued your interest in the beloved title, then there’s no better time to dive into the first entry in the remake series. For even more Final Fantasy goodness, many of the classic titles are also available in this sale.

Last but by no means least, are you looking over at the Xbox exclusive Pokémon-like Palworld with jealous eyes? Well, worry not. While Palworld isn’t available on PlayStation, Temtem is. Currently on offer for 50% off, costing $22.49/£19.99, Temtem is Pokémon with a twist. This charming title is a multiplayer take on the iconic animal-catching game. Catch cute Temtem, battle other tamers, build your own house, and join your friends for a wild adventure.
