ORIGIN
Joe Budden is an American rapper and member of the hip hop group, Slaughterhouse. He was born Joseph Anthony Budden II on August 31, 1980, in Harlem, New York. He was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey by his mother Fay Southerland. Budden dropped out of high school and began using drugs. He entered a detox facility in summer 1997 at the age of seventeen.

CAREER
Budden’s self-titled debut album, Joe Budden, was released in June 2003 by Def Jam Recordings. The album peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 and featured the singles “Pump It Up” and “Fire (Yes Yes Y’all)” with Busta Rhymes. Songs from the album were featured in films like 2 Fast 2 Furious, Mean Girls, and Cradle 2 the Grave. Budden was signed to the independent record label ‘Amalgam Digital’ in 2007. His second album, Padded Room, was released in 2009. Other releases by Amalgam Digital includes Mood Muzik 3: The Album (2008), Halfway House (2008), and Escape Route (2009). Budden’s third studio album ‘No Love Lost’ was released in 2013 and his fourth ‘All Love Lost’ in 2015. He was featured in the third and fourth seasons of the VH1 series Love & Hip Hop: New York.

Budden along with Joell Ortiz, Kxng Crooked, and Royce da 5’9″ formed the supergroup, Slaughterhouse, in 2008. Their self-titled debut album, Slaughterhouse, was released in 2009. Their second album, Welcome to: Our House, was released in 2012 at the #2 spot on the Billboard 200. The album featured artists like Eminem, Cee Lo Green and Swizz Beats. The group’s third album ‘Glass House’ is scheduled for release in 2016.
